Stuff From Around Arkansas, May 15

Updated: Apr 15

Because DumbArkie reminded me we haven't checked in on the Arkansas Patriot Girls lately.

Never Mind: Hey, remember those five swine flu cases that were diagnosed in Arkansas last week? Turns out four of them tested negative. I imagine swine flu is pretty embarrassed right now, and all the other pandemics are making fun of him for being so lame. (AP)

Robocop: Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is cracking down on those obnoxious auto warranty robocalls, and good for him. (AP)

Pistol-Whipped: Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor voted for measure to allow concealed carry permit holders to pack heat in national parks. Video includes guest appearance from Arkansas Concealed Carry blogger John Anderson. (KARK)

Jew Hear That?: There’s Arkansas blogger and newsboy Zack Stovall chattin’ it up with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Sen. Kim Hendren’s disparaging “That Jew” reference to a New York senator. In a related story, “That Jew!” sounds like it could be the name of a particularly hilarious sitcom. (Unfamous First Words)

Payoff: Experts tell lottery commissioners to remind Arkansans why they voted for the lottery. Namely, because they hope to score a big-ass pile of free money. (Arkansas Business)
