Political Advertisers: Fire Sale on TV Time!

Updated: Apr 15

TV Week notes that a weak economy and cutbacks in advertising spending are leading to significant reductions in the price of television ad spots leading up to the 2008 election.

Given that Arkansas has virtually no 2008 U.S. Senate race, no contested Congressional races and no statewide officials on the ballot this year, I would assume that demand for TV ad time here will be even softer.

Are Arkansas TV stations cutting their rates? Will bargain prices mean that we’ll be buffeted with 24 hours a day of ads featuring Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s high school football coach talking about how much he loves the lottery?
